Hi, my name is Tony and on April 8th 2022 my life took a dramatic turn. I fell down the stairs at my home, and within 48 hrs I was paralysed from the neck down and left fighting for my life………..

48 hours after my accident, I could only move my eyes. I needed a ventilator to breathe and was fed through a tube. After neck surgery, I was sedated and kept in a coma for three weeks. When sedation was reduced, I slowly woke up but could neither talk nor move. I spent the next four weeks in ICU to heal my neck, with stable blood pressure leading to a trachea fitting to support my breathing, allowing me to talk (albeit croaky). I still had no body movement. Summary of the four weeks after my fall: a seven-hour spinal surgery with a survival warning, three weeks in a coma, two cardiac arrests, clot busters via IV, pneumonia, sepsis, and a grade 4 pressure sore that confined me to a hospital bed for nine months. GIVING UP WAS NOT AN OPTION.
